Analyzing and modeling deforestation in the Guiana Shield

Analyzing and modeling deforestation is one of the REDD+ for the Guiana Shield’s technical component, implemented in order to increase knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of historical and future deforestation. The objectives of this component is to:

  • Reinforce capacities on historical analysis and future modeling of deforestation;
  • Support decision making process through tools and methods;
  • Encourage discussions on transnational deforestation and degradation threats.

To reach these objectives, several activities have been or are beeing implemented in the framework of the REDD+ for the Guiana Shield project, such as :

  • A Working Group Meeting on Analyzing and modeling deforestation in the Guiana Shield was organized in May, 2015 in Cayenne (see dedicated page)
  • A Methodological approach for modeling deforestation in the Guiana Shield, by Camille Dezécache, UMR Ecofog, CIRAD : in English and in Portuguese
  • A Study on Methods and tools to analyze historical deforestation – Characterization of landscape patterns of deforestation in the Guiana Shield by Maxence Rageade, ONFI in English
  • A Study on Regional interactions of the deforestation inside the Guiana Shield by Maxence Rageade, ONFI, in English
