SAR Technical Workshop for Forest Mapping

Capitalizing on the knowledge and skills acquired during the first training on the use of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for forest monitoring, a Technical Workshop on the same topic was organized between 13th and 17th of April in Macapá, Brazil, at the Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP) facilities.

Seventeen participants from all partners’ countries, namely Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and Amapá, had the opportunity to build capacity on SAR imagery and processing through practice and discussion on the outputs and further use of this technology in their day-to-day work.

A one day field trip was organized during training, in order to compare and validate the results of data processing.
