Working Groups

The Working Groups are regional meetings for technical collaboration and support for the implementation of the three components of the project. The three components are:

  1. Estimation of forest cover, carbon stocks and their changes in the region :
    • Forest cover monitoring
    • Carbon stock assessments
  2. Analysis of direct and underlying causes of deforestation / degradation in the region and improving cross-border management of these causes
  3. Model emissions from deforestation / forest degradation and socio-economic development to assist decision making

It was decided to divide Component 1 into two sub-topics, and that related regional Working Groups would be organized for experience sharing and deliberation on these topics.  An expected output of these Working Groups is to provide data that would feed component 3.
